Money and its shapes

When Ancient Chineses Money was first developed, it was not in round coins instead in was in the shape of knives or spades. I think that this is an interesting concept since we don't see anything like that today I mean you could hurt someone with your knife money. It seems that China was the only country to make such money which could say something about the rest of the world if you really think about it.
