The Wolf of Wall Street “You Make a lot of Money”

In this video, Jordan Belfort, the main character, is approached by Donnie Azoff, another main character, because of Donnie seeing Jordans expensive car in the parking lot. Donnie is confused as to how Jordan makes so much money and has such a nice car and lives in the same building as him. He asking Jordan how much money he make a month and when Jordan answers with $70,000, he tells him if he shows him proof of this he’ll quit his current job and come work for him. What is important to take away from this video is that money is opportunistic but sometimes not all people have the same opportunities as others. Before conducting my research, when I watched this scene of this movie I missed something very important that relates to this topic. Money’s influence on humanity isn’t just something noticed in our workplace or careers, but the people surrounding us in our everyday lives notice money’s influence on us by everything about us. Money’s influence is shown through our clothes or cars or hobbies, where we go to eat or shop or socialize. When Donnie approaches Jordan, a total stranger to him, because of the kind of car he drives, he immediately relates Jordan having an expensive car to him having a high influence of money in his life. We may not even realize it, but we make judgements and assumptions like this everyday with the people in our surroundings.
